It's time to treat yourself and your better half! This workshop, especially for couples, will guide you though some of the wonderfully relaxing, releasing and nurturing techniques of Thai Yoga Bodywork. Learn how to give a basic sequence of stress-releasing stretches, twists, and pressure points to someone special in your life. More focus will be made on the areas that hold the most tension: hips, lower back, and shoulders. Switch halfway though and receive the techniques yourself. No experience or partner necessary.

JANUARY 10, 2010
SUNDAY
Yoga Kriyas: Ancient Yogic Cleansing Techniques

8AM - 9:20AM
We'll explore some of the ancient yogic practices to cleanse the body of toxins. Please avoid all solid food before the presentation.

This is part of the Winter Cleanse Retreat held at the Shelia Donovan Pilates Studio in Canton, MA.

The Retreat runs all day from 8am to 5pm, and includes yoga classes, chair massages, breakfast, juicing, and lunch.

------------
Before yoga poses (asanas), thousands of years ago, ancient yogis developed Yoga Kriyas, or yogic purification practices. Yoga Kriyas were intended to purify the body and make it fit for meditation and enlightenment.

There are six common Yoga Kriyas, also known as Shatkarmas. Some of these have become quite popular in the West in the last few decades, while other Kriyas still remain obscure and mysterious, largely due to their difficulty and lack of proper instruction and demonstration.

In this workshop, we'll explore some of the most common Yoga Kriyas including Jala Neti (nasal wash), Kapalabhati (fire breath), and Nauli (abdominal churning). We'll also delve in deeper into some of the less common practices.

Incorporating and practicing some of the Yoga Kriyas in your daily life is a wonderful way to support your body's natural cleansing processes.

For more information about prices and other details, please contact Shelia Donovan.

In 2008, Surya developed Quantum Rhythm™ Yoga, a form of yoga therapy aimed at awakening and experiencing natural healing rhythms and cycles in and around us. See more info on Quantum Rhythm™ Yoga here.
